J. Pimlott Butcher's

J.Pimlott Butcher’s is a genuine family business which has been supplying quality meat and serving the community for over a hundred-and-fifty years. Many small, local businesses – and even large retailers – have come and gone during that time, but our independent family business here in Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire, is proud to have stood the test of time. We’re one of only a trio of longstanding Cheadle Hulme shops – along with Snape and Son hardware (established 1936) and Waterhouse’s greengrocer (established 1921).

Phrases like ‘family firm’ and ‘local, independent’ are often bandied about, but what do they actually mean for you, our customer? To small businesses like ours, every customer matters, so we genuinely care, and we go the extra mile. Whether that’s to supply a specific cut, to offer the very best cooking advice, or to ensure we’re aware of allergies and intolerances – every customer matters, every time. You’ll know that from the greeting you’re given on each and every visit. At J.Pimlott, it’s personal – we get to know you. We know what you like and what you may fancy trying. We know YOU, and we care.

Richard Pimlott is our fifth-generation Master Butcher and knows there’s no secret to our success.  It was his great-grandfather, Joseph Pimlott, who first set up shop in 1869. Even back then, Joseph was committed to finding and preparing only the finest quality produce for his customers.

Much might have changed since Joseph’s day, but not that. That ethos is still very much in evidence, and that’s the not-at-all-secret to our success.  J.Pimlott remains, above all, a local butcher’s, a family business, looking after other local families – many of whom have become friends. As Richard says:

Local Butcher with Heritage and History

Cheadle Hulme itself was once just a tiny hamlet of Cheadle, Cheshire, so it’s humbling to think that Pimlott’s stood proud on Station Road even then. We have grown with the village!

Though once a small village, we now have customers visiting us from all over Stockport and Cheshire, with Cheadle Hulme now considered part of Manchester.

Like you, we’re local. We eat, drink, work, and play locally and are proud to be part of our village’s history – and our wonderful community. Over the years, our customers have included sporting legends, local actors and celebrities – but of course, every bit as important, local families who have shopped with us for generations.

This is why being a local family business matters. This is why we always do our best.

Delivering Quality and Excellence

Although we have been delivering for over one hundred years our online home delivery service began in 2014. Our produce is selected from only the best farms in our four neighbouring counties of Lancashire, Cheshire, Yorkshire and Shropshire. This way, we can be sure of our meat’s provenance and that its food miles – from the farm gate to our shop and ultimately to our customers – are minimised. J Pimlott has also successfully replaced plastic packaging waste with recyclable alternatives. Again, we live up to our heritage while ensuring we’re doing our best for our planet.
